Lexmark Toner Cartridges Going Green
New York, July 30, 2009: Going green is the new mantra for every individual and organization. The same is the case with Lexmark Toner Cartridges. This company has pledged to take nature conservation to the next level by involving its employees and the community in its effort to ‘go green.’ Situated in Lexington, Kentucky, Lexmark has promised to not only “provide innovative, high-quality printing solutions and services for… customers in a safe, environmentally responsible manner,” but also to “extend… support of community, where Lexmark employees are dedicated to creating cleaner, smarter, safer futures….”
Lexmark Toner Cartridges has invested more than $400 million in fashioning products and creating solutions that guarantee sustainability. They follow the policy of the four Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle and recover.
The company focuses on three main areas to achieve their policy:
- Products and customer solutions – In this area, the company believes in reducing the environmental impact of their products in all phases of the product’s life cycle. They also want to manufacture such products that will be less demanding on the customer’s monetary resources. With this purpose in mind, the company began the Design for Environment Program, which is a product development program that takes green practices into consideration.
- Operations – Lexmark’s facilities includes research and development laboratories, manufacturing and distribution centers, and administrative service and sale support offices. Since regulating all these facilities on three continents is difficult, the company centers its domestic practices on four areas. They are pure air, water conservation, waste minimization and energy efficiency. The in-house programs comprise recycling programs, purchase of remanufactured content for renovation projects and several such constructive programs.
- Community – As responsible employers, Lexmark believes in “good management practices that help…reduce… environmental impact, improve workplace safety, promote our employees
